As frequent previous visitors to Wellington, this place is now our preferred destination and is so convenient to everything a holidaymaker could want. Serene and tranquil Sorrento is the first of the eastern bays and only a 20-minute drive to the city, five minutes from Petone’s Jackson Street restaurants and bars, five minutes from Lower Hutt’s shops and services and right on the route to all the other eastern bays’ combined delights but most of all it enjoys the most spectacular views in Wellington – from every room. "My friend and I stayed at the Sorrento Retreat for ten days in April, and it was wonderful! Our very first evening, we enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine on the balcony while watching a spectacular sunset over the bay. The views were amazing, whether enjoying the stars at night or the sun on the water, and the apartment itself is stunning in its attention to detail. The stairs to the second-floor bedroom are an architectural marvel! When a storm blew in, there was a huge selection of books to entertain us. We never needed a car because the bus to downtown Wellington was right down the driveway. Gus and Gill were awesome hosts who attended to every need, even installing high-speed wifi when we needed it for work! We recommend Sorrento without reservation and would go back there in a second! "We stayed at Gus & Gills retreat for 9 weeks and there is nothing like waking up with a beautiful view of the ocean in Wellington. Gill & Gus are the warmest and most wonderful hosts. They were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area. They were happy to recommend many interesting little places to visit and eat Their accommodation was amazing! The apartment was beautifully designed and had all the little amenities that you needed for a short or long stay.
